From around the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area comes the latest business news and announcements. Arcuri, a new American-Italian restaurant coming to Glover Park, hopes to open by June 4 or 5 at 2400 Wisconsin Ave. NW, the former home of Kavanagh’s Pizza Pub. California-based Entrepreneur Magazine recently named Maryland as the No. 1 state to start a new business, the Washington Examiner reported. Virginia wasn’t far behind, at No. 3. Old Town’s newest store, Spice Merchants, sells exotic as well as traditional spices, teas and tea accessories just opened at 10376 Main St. a few weeks ago. Sweet Frog Premium Frozen Yogurt is opening soon in Smoketown Plaza, near Glory Days Grill. The U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Richmond District Office will honor Virginia’s outstanding small business owners and champions at the Virginia Small Business Week Awards Luncheon on Monday, June 24, 2013, at the Westin Richmond Hotel. Permits have been approved and construction equipment has arrived for the tearing down of the former Georgetown Mall on Packard Road in Ann Arbor. The development of the space into a mixed-use project called Packard Square has been in the works since January 2011.
